Howdy Ags!
Due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns, and in line with TAMU and CDC recommendations, the Muster Committee at Texas A&M has made the difficult decision to not hold this year's Campus Muster Ceremony in person. The committee is currently exploring collaborative alternative options with The Association of Former Students and the University to ensure Aggies can experience this time-honored tradition together safely. More details will be released as they are finalized in the weeks ahead. I encourage you to check the website muster.tamu.edu for any updated information.
As such, our local Muster committee has also decided that it will not hold a Muster ceremony in Calhoun County this year. I know we will all hold each other in our thoughts on April 21st.
Our Muster program is our only fundraising effort for our scholarships. Over the past 5 years we have given $46,000 in scholarships to local Calhoun County graduating seniors who have been accepted to attend Texas A&M University, in College Station. In 2015 we gave six $2,000 scholarships; in 2016 we gave six $2,000 scholarships; in 2017 we gave four $1,500 scholarships; in 2018 we gave four $2,000 scholarships; and in 2019 we gave four $2,000 scholarships.
I do hope that if you have the ability you could please send in a donation for our scholarship so that we can continue to help support our Calhoun County students. Any donation will help, even if you just send the $25.00 you would have spent to attend our event.
