Area Representatives perform the following functions:

  • Be an informed volunteer and active donor to The Association
  • Actively promote involvement in the Annual Fund with The Association of Former Students, and explain that Club Officers are required by The Association by-laws to be Active donors in The Association. Work with the Director of Annual Giving to assist in the Annual Fund Campaign and encourage Club participation in Century Club. Include your name in the Annual Fund appeals if needed or appropriate.
  • Area Representatives assist A&M Clubs and can be of great assistance to The Association Club Programs Office by promoting efficient communication to A&M Clubs in their general area.
  • Cooperate with The Association Coordinator of Club Programs to motivate and support A&M Club operations in the area. • Be in regular contact with the Club presidents via phone, email or letters.
  • Help inform The Association office anytime there is a change in leadership in a Club.
  • Provide a strong line of communication between Texas A&M, The Association and A&M Clubs. Most national Clubs do not receive near enough attention or motivation, and a National Representative can help tremendously in providing such attention and recognition.
  • Attend as many Club functions as possible, within your defined area of responsibility; especially Board and Officer meetings, and encourage the Clubs to provide the Club Programs office with pictures and information on events for promotion and publication.
  • Attend Leadership Council Meetings each semester with a minimum of one per year. These include, but are not limited to, the bi-annual Leadership Council Meeting at the Association of Former Students in College Station, Texas and Council Connections held around Texas.
  • Build and improve existing Clubs, encouraging them to involve all former students and especially young graduates.
  • Function as a “relay station” for new Association programs to local Clubs, and conversely as a “listening post” for problems within the area.
  • Cooperate with The Association Coordinator of Club Programs in coordinating Clubs to carry out Association programs and activities. (Examples: Hosting visiting Aggies at a sports event, presenting scholarships, recognition of Legislator Support and attending funerals as needed.)
  • Encourage Clubs to implement local programs which will enhance the image and reputation of Texas A&M and The Association.
  • Contact each A&M Club President in their area prior to the Leadership Council Weekends to ensure each Club will be represented at the bi-annual meetings
  • Monitor progress of all Club and Association programs within their area.
  • Ensure proper organization of area Clubs and provide a point of contact for communication to areas where Clubs are not yet organized.
  • Assist in activating and organizing new Clubs in coordination with The Association Coordinator of Club Programs.
